Navashi is now available — festivals, muhurat dates, and the hours of your day

We are pleased to announce the release of Navashi — a calendar application for those who observe traditional timekeeping.

On the App Store and Google Play

Dear there,

Navashi computes the Vedic Panchang, the Japanese Rokuyo and the Hebrew calendar from live astronomical positions for your own location, and presents them together in one place.

Google Play

A complete festival calendar

Navashi tracks more than 400 festivals and observances across eleven traditions, with over 800 dated occurrences in the year ahead. Each carries its date, its ritual timings, and guidance on how it is observed.

You may set a reminder for any festival, send a greeting card, review the year ahead in a twelve‑month planner, and export the entire calendar to Google Calendar or Apple Calendar in a single step. The Observance Tracker records the fasts you keep, with a running count and streak for each.

Highlights

Muhurat dates — for sixteen occasions

Tell Navashi what you are planning and it will identify the dates that suit it: marriage, housewarming, engagement, the purchase of a vehicle or property, a business opening, a new appointment, the commencement of study, travel abroad, a naming ceremony, surgery, an investment, a legal matter, the sacred thread ceremony, a child's first haircut, or a first solid meal.

Each date is assessed against the classical rules for that particular occasion — the required class of nakshatra, the combustion of Jupiter and Venus, the correct half of the year — and graded from Strong to Avoid, with any clash against Rahu Kaal, Gulika Kaal or Yamaganda clearly marked. Where no suitable date falls within two months, Navashi continues its search for a full year. Where you must act on a fixed date regardless, it will identify the least unfavourable option rather than return nothing at all.

The muhurat hour — as the day unfolds

Navashi shows the Choghadiya window currently in force and the time remaining in it, together with Brahma Muhurat and Abhijit Muhurat to the minute. Rahu Kaal, Gulika Kaal, Yamaganda and Dur Muhurat are marked so that you may see them approaching.

You may also choose to be notified five minutes before a window of a particular quality opens.

A reading of the day that is yours

Enter your birth date, time and place once, and Navashi determines your janma nakshatra. Thereafter Tāra Bala reports how the day's nakshatra stands in relation to your own, Chandra Bala tracks the Moon against your sign, and Pancha Pakshi identifies your bird within the five‑bird cycle, what it is doing in the present hour, and whether the hour favours action.

All three are available as a general reading before you enter any birth details at all.

Daily practice

A meditation timer that closes on a singing bowl and keeps your streak and cumulative minutes. A moon journal that asks a different question depending on whether the moon is waxing or waning. A record of your ancestors, with reminders on the anniversaries that matter.

The sky above your location

Sunrise, sunset, moonrise and the length of the day. Tonight's moon and its illumination. Which planets are visible, and which are retrograde. Every forthcoming eclipse, with whether it is visible from where you stand, the proportion obscured, and the exact minutes at which it begins, peaks and ends.

Spiritual Weather

And a daily reading of the sky's overall condition — its inner fire, its tide, its drift and its pulse — set against the traditional season and the name that season carries for this particular moment of the year.

Available in English and हिन्दी

Navashi is available throughout in both English and Hindi — every reading, every festival and every calculation — switchable at any time from Settings.

Further regional languages are in preparation and will follow in forthcoming releases.

The application is free to download, with no subscription.
